Once again, the Middle East is holding its breath, courtesy of Donald Trump’s favorite time frame: two weeks. Last night, the White House announced that Trump will decide whether to support Israel militarily against Iran’s nuclear sites or pursue diplomacy. Officials emphasize Trump’s conditions: a necessary strike, no prolonged war, and guaranteed destruction of Iran’s nuclear capability.
However, the international community is aware that it could go either way. From tax reforms to infrastructure plans, “two weeks” has long been Trump’s go-to phrase, usually signaling drastic action or nothing. Considering Europe’s scramble for negotiations, and the world’s anxiety, we’re probably in for the longest “two weeks” ever.
