Believe it or not, the “tooth fairy” is real—at least in Seattle. Dr. Purva Merchant is a pediatric dentist. She secretly answered over 6,000 emails meant for the tooth fairy over the past two decades, helping frantic parents reassure their kids and keeping childhood magic alive.
In 2004, it all started accidentally, but kids still get reminders to floss, brush, and embrace growing up. Even Merchant fields questions like “Do you type with your feet?” and “What happens to all those teeth?” (Answer: they build a tooth castle, obviously.) The tooth fairy might be the hero we didn’t know we needed.
