Seniors’ Marijuana Use Goes Sky-High

Forget knitting circles and bridge games—America’s seniors have discovered a new hobby: cannabis. Marijuana use among the 65-plus crowd has hit an all-time high, surging nearly 46% since 2021. Weed is becoming a go-to remedy for chronic pain, insomnia, and stress, especially among seniors and women.

But doctors warn it’s not all smooth sailing (or smooth smoking). Today’s weed is more potent, and it interacts with prescription meds, which could lead to dementia risk and more hospital visits. So while grandma might be smoking more, it might be a good idea to ask what she’s rolling.
